Volunteer Opportunities

    Hacking blackberries, whew! Mar. 1997
  • Help at Work Parties    See Activities.

  • Be a Watchdog    The wildlife area is surrounded by industry, railroads and filled land.  Anyone who spends time at the lakes can let us know if you see any new development or sources of pollution, illegal dumping or other questionable activities.

  • Lead Trips     If you like paddling, bird watching, animal tracking or other nature oriented adventures and want to share this with others, you can lead paddling or walking trips at the wildlife area.

  • Staff a Booth     The Friends have opportunities to share our message at booths at various community events such as the Columbia Slough Regatta.

  • Community Outreach    The Friends would like to increase the awareness of the lakes by making presentations to our business neighbors and community groups.

  • Volunteer Opportunities at Metro  Metro has other volunteer opportunities, including turtle monitoring and leading work party crews.  See Metro's web site.
