Primary Purposes
The primary purposes of the Friends of Smith & Bybee Lakes are (from our
bylaws):
- To support the conservation, restoration and enhancement of the Smith and
Bybee Wetlands Natural Area as a historical remnant of the Columbia River
Estuary System.
- To support the permanent protection of Smith and Bybee Lakes in
recognition that natural areas are a valuable resource in an urban
environment.

To support the preservation of habitat for native fish and wildlife in the
lakes area.
- To support recreational activities that are passive in nature.
Examples include bird watching, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

Nonprofit Organization
The Friends of Smith & Bybee Lakes is a community-based group that was
founded in 1988. We are a registered with the state of Oregon as a
nonprofit corporation. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your
donations are tax-deductible.
